Artichoke heart gratin

4 artichoke hearts (8 halves), prepared
250ml double cream
100g Parmesan, grated
pinch of grated nutmeg
50g breadcrumbs
salt and pepper

Preheat the oven to 200ºC and butter an ovenproof dish. Take the prepared artichoke hearts and chop off the stem to the base of the heart. Cut each one in half again and steam for 25-30 minutes until just tender.
Meanwhile heat the double cream in a pan with a pinch of grated nutmeg and season generously. Put the artichokes into the  buttered dish, then pour the cream mixture over the top, and sprinkle with the grated Parmesan and breadcrumbs. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
